Abstract. The author considers the very first steps of the Russian-Australian relations establishment and the history of their development from the first half of the XIXth century up to the beginning of the XXthcentury. This is just a glance at the events from the historical, political, economic and social points of view. The analysis of the historical circumstances, the political and economic preconditions of the establishment of the interstate relations of two countries, their further development in the context of the world events of the period is presented in the article. While researching the author pays special attention to the letters of the first Russian seafarers, newspaper articles, official documents and other scientific proceedings in this sphere.
