Abstract. The article is devoted to the cultural concept Russian North. For about two centuries this set expression for a Russian mentality bearer has been the notion reflecting the senses important for native culture. Russian North played an important role in the formation of national self-consciousness and has one of the most important places on the cultural map of Russia. As a special region of Russian cultural heritage it is as important as other unique phenomena of national and world culture.
