Abstract. The article is devoted to asceticism problem, particularly, to considering mystic-ascetic practice in Hinduism and Orthodoxy. This theme interests both scientists researching different directions of religious philosophy from the point of view of metaphysics, ethics and cognition theory and people striving for studying and deep understanding of different religious traditions.
