THE USA FOREIGN POLICY COURSE IN SOVIET DIRECTION IN 1969-1980: POLITICAL-LEGAL BASES

Abstract. The article considers the political-legal bases of the American-Soviet relationships in 1969-1980. Special attention is paid to the USA foreign policy doctrines such as the doctrines of flexible response, sufficiency, initiative, trilaterism and strategic defense initiative brought forward during the rule of the Presidents R. Nixon, J. Carter and R. Reagan. Special attention is paid to P. Nitze's theory of vulnerability window who was the member of the American delegation during the negotiations with the USSR concerning strategic arms limitation (SAL-1).
