AVERAGE MAN OF POVOLZH'E TOWN UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF DRY LAW OPERATIONDURING THE PERIOD OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR: ATTITUDES OF MIND AND SOCIAL PRACTICE

Abstract. The article reveals the attitude of Povolzh'e townspeople to the implementation of the restrictions on alcohol selling and use during the First World War. The spectrum of average men's opinions concerning the so called dry law and the efficiency of the measures restricting alcohol selling and use are revealed. Social practices characteristic of townspeople in connection with dry law are determined.
