ON THE WAY TO DIFFERENT RUSSIA: HOW THE USSR IMAGE CHANGED ON THE PAGES OF HENRY LUCE'S PRESS IN 1946

Bontsevich Natalya Nikolaevna
Saratov State University

Abstract. In the article the content of the publications of the leading American weeklies "Life" and "Time" on soviet theme during 1946 is analyzed. It is shown how the editorial team of the journals headed by Henry Luce was sequentially forming the new perception of the USA ally in the war against Hitlerite Germany in the consciousness of their readers, ordinary Americans, and how the image of valiant and heroic fighter against fascism was changed by the image of inexorable dictator on the international arena and of the main USA opponent in its foreign-policy plans on the pages of publications.
