L. N. TOLSTOY'S ARTISTIC WILL - THE CONCEPTION OF LIFE NON-ERADICATION (BY THE NARRATIVE "IVAN ILYICH'S DEATH")

Abstract. In the article L. N. Tolstoy's conception of the problem of life and death who was the opponent of the Christian dogma about Resurrection as a man's divine reward is considered. He thinks that in a borderline situation or serious illness a person is quite conscious to justify his life from the position of the opposition "animal in person" - "human". By the example of the artistic description of the death of an ordinary judicial clerk - Ivan Ilyich - L. N. Tolstoy states the non-eradication of life showing that a person can overcome the panic of death and aquire Spirit.
