Abstract. The paper focuses on a sociolinguistic analysis of the impact of digital technologies and social media on language practices and communication among students. The aim of the research is to determine the specific characteristics of functioning and pragmatic potential of the most frequent Anglicisms in Russian youth digital communication. The paper examines theoretical concepts in the field of linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and communication studies that serve as the basis for interpreting empirical data. The research was conducted remotely using modern digital tools on a sample of 30 graduate students. The scientific novelty of the research lies in identifying and describing the specific functional-pragmatic characteristics of Anglicisms actively used in Russian youth digital communication. The paper contributes to the study of their role in the communicative strategies of the digital generation. As a result, the work identified 20 key Anglicisms actively used in youth communication, analyzed their functional features and pragmatic aspects of usage. The data obtained indicate the significant influence of digital technologies on the formation of a new linguistic worldview among the younger generation, which is reflected in specific lexical, grammatical, and syntactic innovations.
