Linguocultural approach to the inner form and actual meaning of phraseological units with a gastronomic component (based on English, Russian, and Chechen)

Abstract. The study aims to identify common and distinctive (specific to culture and language) features of gastronomic phraseological units in Chechen, Russian, and English using parallel corpus data within the linguocultural paradigm. We analyzed each selected actual meaning of phraseological units, their inner form, and cultural connotation. Based on the data, we identified universal and cultural characteristics and selected interlingual equivalents. The research methodology was revealed by the analysis of phraseological units with the gastronomic component “bread”. For the first time, the actual meaning and inner form of Chechen phraseological units were explored in a comparative aspect within the framework of linguoculturology, which constitutes the scientific novelty of the work. The study results show that the most productive gastronomic components of phraseological units, the cultural sources of idioms, and the structure of idioms are universal. Unique features include the presence of composite idioms in the Chechen language; the presence of idioms whose inner form is based on rhyme in the Russian language; and the conceptualization of material and spiritual values through gastronomic images in English, Russian, and Chechen.
