Discursive interpretation of knowledge about the world in the artist’s ego-discourse (based on English-language interviews)

Abstract. The research aims to identify the patterns of discursive interpretation of the world and knowledge about the world that are objectified in the artist’s ego-discourse. Using English-language interviews, the article examines how the artist represents themselves as a subject of knowledge at the linguistic level and identifies the most significant parameters of the orientation of their ego-discourse. The research is novel in that it is the first one to identify the main characteristics of the discursive interpretation of the artist’s knowledge about the world, demonstrates the significance of the systems of evaluation and emotions in organizing the artist’s ego-discourse, and identifies the dominant objects of interpretation that are linguistically actualized in English-language interviews with artists. As a result of the study, it was found that during the process of verbal self-representation in interviews, the artist as a subject of knowledge manifests themselves primarily as a subject of opinion, desire, evaluation, and emotions. Moreover, the orientation of the discourse towards the systems of evaluation and emotions is predominant. The dominant objects of interpretation in the ego-discourse of the contemporary English-speaking artist are ENVIRONMENT, HUMAN BEING, NATURE, ARTIST, ARTWORK.
