A new project of a semantic classification of the verbal vocabulary of the Russian language

Abstract. The paper is devoted to the description of the lexico-semantic groups of Russian verbs. The aim of the study is to consider the denotative component of the lexical meanings of Russian verbs in each lexico-semantic group in order to identify typical and regular phenomena. The scientific novelty lies in a comprehensive approach to the issue of systematisation, an attempt to identify relevant classification features. As a result of the description of the lexico-semantic groups of verbs in the Russian language, the basic meanings of the groups have been determined, the characteristics of the denotative component of the lexical meaning of the verbs in each group have been presented, these are the subject, tense, internal movement, the nature of the course, including from the standpoint of their potential for classification purposes.
