Military Training Instruction as a Speech Genre of the Military Еducational Discourse for Foreign Military Personnel

Abstract. The aim of the study is to describe the military training instruction as an independent speech genre of the military educational discourse for foreign military personnel. The description of the genre on the basis of the model proposed by T. V. Shmeleva made it possible to identify the discursive conditionality of the com¬municative goal, the image of the author and the addressee, the dictum content, the factor of the communicative past and future, linguistic means of the speech genre. The study is novel in that it is the first to describe the military training instruction as a speech genre; to identify the peculiarities of organisation of the genre in comparison with the genre of military instruction. As a result, it has been found that the genre of military training instruction is presented as an independent speech genre functioning in the military educational discourse for foreign military personnel. The change in the communicative goal of the source text of the military instruction is due to the training intention of the military training instruction. The singularity of linguistic means of the speech genre is dictated by a special addressee, i.e. a foreign cadet. Since the military training instruction is a multifunctional text that is a source of both professional and “language” knowledge, the distinctive feature of the author in the speech genre of military training instruction is collectivity.
