Linguistic Representation of Maslenitsa Rite of Roping Blocks in the Kuban Tradition

Abstract. The aim of the study is to identify the terminology and ethno-cultural semantics of the Maslenitsa ritual of roping blocks in the Kuban region. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the paper for the first time describes the terminology of the Kuban rite of roping blocks in the ethnolinguistic aspect. The result is a description of the "content plan" of the Kuban Maslenitsa tradition based on the internal reconstruction of the rite and ritual vocabulary, i.e. the systematization of data on the Kuban tradition and on the external reconstruction - a description of the Kuban Maslenitsa rite and ritual vocabulary against the background of related traditions. Much attention is paid to the analysis of semantic shifts in the terminology of the rite.
