Artistic Understanding of "Bondage" Theme in Dilya Bulgakova’s Stories

Abstract. The aim of the study is to reveal the ideological and aesthetic role of the "bondage" theme in the stories of the prison cycle by Dilya Bulgakova. These stories occupy a special place in the writer’s creative work, as in the early 90s of the 20th century namely these stories declared that a subtle lyricist had come into prose, able to convey the dramatic tension of events, the psychological depth of characters, the unique national flavour, and the peculiarities of the heroes’ worldview. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the fact that for the first time in the Tatar literary criticism, an attempt has been made to analyse Dilya Bulgakova’s stories reflecting this topic. The results of the research have shown that the "bondage" theme is revealed through the motives of loneliness, illness, death, etc. and indicates the emotional and psychological nature of what is happening due to socio-historical prerequisites through the lens of national and universal values.
