Buddhist Concept of "Samsara" in I. A. Bunin’s Creative Work

Abstract. The aim of the study is to determine the religious and philosophical meaning of the concept of "samsara" in I. A. Bunin’s creativity. The article focuses on the philosophical concepts of Buddhism characteristic of Bunin’s prose, their origins. The scientific novelty consists in the fact that the paper is dedicated to a detailed analysis of a number of Bunin’s works from the point of view of Buddhist philosophy with special attention to religious symbolism, terminology. For the first time, the article touches upon the problem of the term "samsara" in Bunin’s prose works, analyses the writer’s interpretation of the religious and philosophical doctrines of Buddhism, the role and place of Buddhist philosophy in the author’s creativity. As a result of the research, the sources and role of Buddhist philosophy in Bunin’s work are identified, the place and role of Buddhist ideas, symbols, images in the writer’s prose are determined.
