Abstract. The purpose of the study is to identify the conceptual meaning of legal notions that are compound words according to their structure and contain the lexeme “Gestaltung-” / “-gestaltung” as the first or second component based on a conceptual analysis of the texts of laws and bylaws belonging to various branches of German law. Scientific novelty of the study lies in describing the conceptual meaning of legal terms within the framework of the linguocognitive approach. As a result of the analysis, the conceptual meanings of legal terms containing the lexeme “Gestaltung-” / “-gestaltung” have been identified, namely, the understanding of the latter as 1) law-changing tools; 2) form-defining tools; 3) elements defining form and content.
