Image of the Female Persona in the Early Lyric Poetry of Varvara Danilova

Abstract. The paper is devoted to the study of the early creative work of the modern Russian-speaking Evenk poetess Varvara Danilova. The research aims to describe the characteristic features of the female persona in the poems from the collection “Only You...”. The paper analyses the image realisations of the female persona underpinned by both the thematic diversity of the works and the author’s worldview demonstrating the mixing of Russian and Evenk cultures. The paper is novel in that it is the first to identify and characterise the image realisations of the female persona in V. Danilova’s first collection of poems. It is shown how the nature and specificity of the persona’s image are revealed through landscape, detail and speech from the perspective of the author’s worldview, which fits in the context of the Russian and global literary tradition alike. As a result, the researchers have identified the “many faces” of the female persona: she is a woman who is in love and disappointed in love; a city dweller; a poetess; a Russian national; an Evenk woman who reveres national traditions; a Christian. It has been found that the image of the female persona combines features of the national Evenk mentality, all-Russian culture and personal, individual author’s, women’s history.
