Methodology for Teaching Senior Students Pursuing a Degree in "Pedagogical Education" to Produce Foreign-Language Evaluative Statements Based on Materials from the English-Language Press

Abstract. The purpose of the study is to elaborate a methodology for teaching students to produce foreign-language evaluative statements based on materials from the English-language press of a topical nature, taking into account the peculiarities of future English teachers’ training. The paper follows the sequence of preparatory and speech tasks aimed at mastering language and speech evaluative means of expressing students’ attitude to an article they have read and developing evaluative judgments drawing on the ideas outlined by the author of the article. Scientific novelty lies in creating and describing a four-stage model of forming speech evaluative skills in senior students pursuing a degree in "Pedagogical Education". As a result, a methodology for teaching senior students pursuing a degree in "Pedagogical Education" to produce foreign-language evaluative statements based on materials from the English-language press, which consists of a system of tasks corresponding to the stages of students’ speech skills formation, has been created.
