International Russian Festival as an Efficient Form of Extra-Curricular Work with Foreign Students Studying Russian as a Foreign Language

Abstract. The article considers the experience of organizing an extra-curricular event - International Russian Festival for foreign students studying Russian as a foreign language. The author reveals the basic stages of the event, proposes the most efficient forms of intercultural interaction, determines the approaches to extra-curricular event organization, describes the types of creative extra-curricular activities aimed to enhance foreign students’ sociocultural and linguistic adaptation to new linguistic and educational environment. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher proposes a model of organizing an extra-curricular event aimed to facilitate foreign students’ sociocultural and linguistic adaptation. The analysis indicates that foreign students participating in the event are more successful in adapting themselves to new educational and cultural environment.
