Stable Comparisons with Component-Zoonym Used to Describe Person’s Unattractive Appearance in the Russian and Chinese Languages

Abstract. The article examines stable comparisons with the component-zoonym used to describe unattractive appearance in the Russian and Chinese languages. The paper aims to identify universal and nationally specific features of these linguistic units. The author analyses cognitive stereotypical description of reality, in particular, a person’s unattractive appearance, reveals linguo-cultural peculiarities of the lexical units describing a person’s appearance in the Russian and Chinese languages, which constitutes scientific originality of the study. As a result, it is shown that in both the languages, stable comparisons describe deviations from appearance standards. The researcher identifies linguoculturological differences involving the system of model images and the bases of stable comparisons.
