Implicit Forms to Express Speech Act "Well-Wishing" in Negative Situation

Abstract. The research objectives are as follows: to identify implicit forms of expressing the speech act "Well-Wishing", to reveal specificity of this speech act, to determine the level of empathy of such illocutives in interpersonal communication. The authors for the first time examine the functioning of the speech act "Well-Wishing" in a negative situation (the addressee’s illness) as a manifestation of verbal empathy and a form of psychological support, reveal specificity of implicit well-wishes functioning in empathic interpersonal communication, which constitutes scientific originality of the study. The research findings are as follows: the authors identify implicit forms of expressing the speech act "Well-Wishing" in empathic interpersonal communication. The speaker’s communicative intention is realized through directive speech acts "request", "advice", "prohibition", "assurance", expressive speech acts "blessing", representative speech acts "claim". Speech acts of implicit well-wishing are analysed taking into account the basic characteristics of empathic statements (emotional-evaluative connotation, emotional filling, congruence of empathic reaction).
