Gaming, Aesthetic and Performative Functions of Modern Book and Their Representation in Professional Terminology (on the Material of the English and Russian Languages)

Abstract. The paper aims to identify the range of book publishing terms that reflect gaming, aesthetic and performative functions of a book. Scientific originality of the study is conditioned by the fact that the au-thor analyses insufficiently investigated publishing vocabulary of the English and Russian languages, proposes a semantic classification of linguistic units, for the first time introduces gaming, aesthetic and performative functions of a book. The findings indicate that both languages have developed rich publishing terminology, which includes native terms, borrowed terms and synonymous terms. The above mentioned book functions are represented by lexical units of the lexico-semantic groups "Quality", "Action" and "Function"
