Abstract. The aim of this work is to characterize the main problems of modern scientific research in celtology in the UK. The scientific originality of the article lies in a comprehensive analysis of the methodology of scientific works and the results obtained by the modern British linguists dealing with the Celtic linguistic problems. As a result, it is proved that Celtic studies at the present stage remain significant for science: they are devoted to the problems of field research, grammar, etymology, and have a great potential for further research among foreign and domestic philologists. In the conclusion of the article, the prospects for subsequent scientific research are outlined.
