Abstract. The paper aims to identify word-formation ways in the modern literary Dargin language. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the authors for the first time examine newly appeared lexical units of the literary Dargin language. The conducted empirical research allows identifying a large number of neologisms and occasionalisms, more than 100 of which appeared in the last decades. Among models of neologisms formation, the authors mention the following ones: borrowing (calquing) from the Russian language and word-building according to the patterns of the Dargin language. Many recently appeared neologisms are in active use.
