Basic Means to Transfer Semantics of Large and Small Quantity in the Kabardino-Circassian Language

Abstract. The paper aims to identify specificity of representing semantics of large and small quantity in the Adyghe linguistic consciousness. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the author for the first time provides a comprehensive analysis of the basic means to transfer semantics of large and small quantity in the Kabardino-Circassian linguistics. The findings indicate that in the Kabardino-Circassian language, meaning of quantity can be expressed by lexical, morphological and grammatical means. Numerals of the Kabardino-Circassian language are equally capable of expressing semantics of definite quantity and semantics of indefinite quantity; numeratives with similar semantics are identified.
