Abstract. The paper analyses two ancient hieroglyphic dictionaries - "Cangjie Pian" and "Ji Jiu Pian". The author aims to reveal structural similarity of "Cangjie Pian", "Ji Jiu Pian" hieroglyphic dictionaries and "Bai Jia Xing" name dictionary by the example of the lexico-semantic group "Personal Names". The findings indicate that the mentioned dictionaries contain a minimum list of personal names. In "Ji Jiu Pian", personal names are arranged in accordance with "Cangjie Pian" principles: they have a similar format, similar rhythmic pattern, similar content, and the logic of narration is also similar. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the author for the first time reveals structural similarity of "Cangjie Pian" and "Ji Jiu Pian" dictionaries. "Cangjie Pian" played a significant role in development of the Chinese lexicography and written tradition, so the above mentioned conclusion is well-grounded.
