Meaning of the Title of the Novel "Love in Exile" by Bahaa Taher

Abstract. The paper aims to clarify the meaning of the title of the novel "Love in Exile" by the Egyptian writer Bahaa Taher. Themes of this literary work have not been previously analysed in the Russian literary criticism, which constitutes scientific originality of the study. The research findings are as follows: the author proves that love of the famous Arabic left-wing journalist and the European girl was destined to fail due to the following reasons: alien environment, migrant’s complex, egoism, lack of patriotic spirit. Exile is an escape for both of them, but life in paradise is boring. Bahaa Taher deliberately separates his heroes, so they can return to their native country and begin a new life full of struggle for social ideals.
