Abstract. The study aims to provide an insight into the Russian-language online petitions as a relevant practice of protest communication in the context of mediatisation of politics and conflict postulates sociology. Scientific novelty of the research lies in the systemic communicative approach to studying protest communication, in interdisciplinary integration of advances in discourse linguistics, social and political studies. As a result of the study, regular manifestations of the mediatisation phenomenon are identified and adequacy of communication within the analysed protest practices is characterised, which clearly contributes to understanding of modern protest and correlation between technologic and sociocultural changes.
