Analysis of the Russian Translation of Pierre Lemaitre’s Novel "Au revoir l?-haut" ("The Great Swindle")

Abstract. The article analyses the Russian translation of Pierre Lemaitre’s novel "Au revoir l?-haut" ("The Great Swindle") executed by Darya Mudrolyubova. One of the basic criteria of literary translation quality is the level of adequacy of aesthetic impact of the original and the translated text. The authors conclude that equivalence and adequacy of the translation are not achieved because the translator has a tendency to excessive expressive concretization, which resulted in transformation of situational and emotive scenario of Pierre Lemaitre’s novel.
