Functioning of Complicated Compound Sentences in A. I. Sofronov’s Prose (the Stories "In Search of Better Fortune She Ruined Her Life", "Mayor", "Departure")

Abstract. The paper aims to reveal specificity of functioning of multicomponent compound sentences, in particular, complicated compound sentences in A. I. Sofronov’s prose. The stories "In Search of Better Fortune She Ruined Her Life", "Mayor", "Departure" served as the research material. Scientific originality of the study involves analysing complicated compound sentences structure and functioning in the stories. The conclusion is made that these complicated sentences possessing highly specific features constitute originality of the author’s individual style. The second conclusion is that the writer tends to use complicated compound sentences with sequential clauses. Sequential clauses also prevail in mixed sentences.
