Strategies to Transfer Specificity of Onomastic Space of N. S. Leskov’s Novel "The Cathedral Clergy" while Translating into English and French

Abstract. The paper aims to reveal specificity of transferring the onomasticon of N. S. Leskov’s novel "The Cathedral Clergy" while translating into English and French. Scientific originality of the study is conditioned by the fact that the author for the first time provides a comparative analysis of homonyms in the novel "The Cathedral Clergy" in the context of L. Venuti’s translation conception that includes two basic strategies - domestication and foreignization. The conducted research has allowed identifying and comparing dominant strategies used to transfer the novel’s onomasticon while translating into English and French.
