National and Cultural Specificity of Zoomorphic Figurative Means in the Novel "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini

Abstract. The article analyses zoomorphic figurative means in the novel "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini. Scientific originality of the study is conditioned by the fact that zoomorphisms functioning is examined by the material of the bilingual writer’s works within the framework of the cognitive-discursive approach. The analysis indicates that the novel contains a great number of zoomorphisms that undergo semantic changes (semantic extension, restructuring of associative relations). It justifies the thesis that the bilingual writer’s creative consciousness tends to be more flexible and dynamic.
