Developing Non-Linguistic Students’ Speech Skills Using the Techniques to Produce Witty Remarks

Abstract. The article examines the ways to develop the English-speaking skills among students of "Tourism" training area using the techniques to produce witty remarks. The techniques are illustrated by the examples of short jokes taken from the American sources. The author suggests two types of exercises on the short humorous text, which humorous effect is based on ambiguity and misinterpretation. Examples of tasks are provided. Methodological recommendations on work with jokes are given and the necessity to use humour at the lessons is justified.
