Representation of the Concept IMPOLITENESS in the Russian Linguoculture: Gender Aspect (by the Material of Associative Experiment)

Abstract. The study aims to determine differences in representation of the concept IMPOLITENESS in the Russian linguoculture from the positions of gender groups (men and women). Scientific novelty: basing on the data of a conducted associative experiment, the researcher singles out the categories of perception of the concept IMPOLITENESS peculiar to each group, as well as the basic similarities and differences. The research findings amount to determination of commonalities in understanding the concept IMPOLITENESS by men and women (rudeness, aesthetic unattractiveness, tabooing, greater hostility associated with high complexity/indirectness/covertness of utterances), as well as determination of the components of this concept that differ considerably for representatives of the respondent groups (male respondents tend to understand impoliteness as impudence and hostility, men interpret offence as a direct communicative act; female respondents perceive impoliteness as an offence, an unacceptable and uncommon communicative act).
