Architectonics of G?l?ah Elikbank’s Novel "Liars and Lovers" (2015)

Abstract. The study aims to prove that artistic structure of the famous novel "Liars and Lovers" (2015) by the modern Turkish writer G?l?ah Elikbank is consistent with basic features of urban fantasy, one of the most popular genres of the Turkish mass literature in the 2010s. The article analyses problems and plot-compositional features of the novel. Scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that G. Elikbank’s novelistic work for the first time becomes a subject of analytical study in the domestic Turkological literary criticism. As a result, it is shown that G. Elikbank’s novel architectonics displays features of meta-genre nature adopting motifs and images from the folklore urban legend, detective, gothic, conspiracy and romance novels.
