M. Akhmedov’s Creative Work in the Context of Patriotic Traditions of the Avar Poetry

Abstract. The purpose of the study is to provide an insight into artistic features of M. Akhmedov’s patriotic works in the context of the Avar artistic and patriotic traditions development. Special attention is paid to the evolution stages of patriotic thought in the Dagestani and, in particular, Avar poetry. The work focuses on artistic originality of M. Akhmedov’s patriotic poems. The research is novel in that it is the first to study patriotic motifs of M. Akhmedov’s creative work in the context of the corresponding tradition of the Avar poetry. The research findings have shown that the theme of patriotism clearly evolves in ways of conceiving and depicting the motherland and feelings expressed towards it in his poetry. It was found that this theme is closely linked to the Avars’ folklore traditions and achievements of preceding poetry.
