Linguistic Principles of Cataloguing in Online News Library

Abstract. The purpose of the study is to identify advantages of employing linguistic principles to organise an online news flow in line with formation of an online news library, which becomes an effective tool for creating an image in a crisis situation. Scientific novelty of the research lies in its interdisciplinary nature, which allows the author to conduct further study of the media information space and provide a scientific rationale for its systematisation. As a result, it is proved that in formation of an online library containing news about the Syrian crisis, principles of a traditional three-tiered library cataloguing system (alphabetical, systematic and thematic catalogues) possess a productive linguistic potential for creating an event image and help to carry out a comprehensive assessment of it.
