Norms of Translating Popular Science Documentaries about Wildlife (by the Example of the Soviet Translation of the Documentary "Galapagos")

Abstract. The article discusses the problem of translation norms when translating documentaries about wildlife. The research objective includes identifying the translation norms used to translate a documentary of the 1960s. The study is based on theoretical provisions of domestic and foreign linguists - specialists in translation studies. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that the researcher for the first time provides a comprehensive analysis of audio-visual translation of a documentary of the 1960s. The conducted research justifies importance of certain translation norms established by the Soviet audio-visual translators of the 1960s.
