Formal-Structural Analysis of the Russian Photography Terminology

Abstract. The purpose of the study is to identify typical models of photography terms and patterns of their formation. A formal-structural analysis of terminology, employed by the author, is a special kind of terminological work focused on identifying typical models of terms. The work is novel in that a formal-structural analysis of the Russian photography terminology is carried out for the first time; typical models of formation of terms from this professional field are highlighted. The attained results have shown that prevalence of two-word terms is contingent on reflection of the photo image production process and description of hyponymic relations, such as "part-whole", making up a wide layer of vocabulary of the studied professional field.
