Lexemes with Semantics of Singleness and Primordiality in the Kabardino-Circassian Language: Ethnic Specificity and Functional Peculiarities

Abstract. The research objective includes identifying functional-semantic features of the lexemes ‘зы’ (one), ‘япэ’ (first), ‘закъуэ’ (single, the only) in the Kabardino-Circassian language. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that for the first time in the Kabardino-Circassian linguistics, the authors provide a comprehensive functional-semantic analysis of the culturally valuable numeratives ‘зы’, ‘япэ’ and ‘закъуэ’ from the viewpoint of ethno-linguistics. The findings indicate that in the Kabardino-Circassian language, these lexemes possess both positive and negative meanings, their functional-semantic features are contextually determined.
