Category of Memory in the Russian Literature (from Classical Times to the Present)

Abstract. The paper traces evolution of the memory category in the Russian literature of the XIX - the beginning of the XXI century. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researchers examine representation of the memory category in the Russian literature over a long historical period (from the beginning of the XIX century till the beginning of the XXI century), identify and analyse the existing views on whether it is necessary to preserve memory, reveal specificity of artistic representation of the memory category in certain authors’ creative work (in particular, R. Senchin). The research findings are as follows: the authors prove that perception of the memory category in the Russian literature of the XIX - the beginning of the XXI century can be described as "full acceptance - rejection - re-interpretation".
