JOURNEY Concept Representation in Jane Austen’s Artistic Worldview

Abstract. The research objectives are as follows: to reveal specificity of the JOURNEY concept representation in Jane Austen’s creative work and to identify its role and place in the writer’s conceptual sphere. Realization of the JOURNEY concept in Jane Austen’s works is examined in two aspects: spatial-temporal and spiritual-philosophical. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the JOURNEY concept has not been previously investigated as a component of Jane Austen’s conceptual sphere. The findings indicate that the JOURNEY concept, whose semantic content includes peripetias of the personages’ lives and the closely related journey chronotope, plays an important role in Jane Austen’s creative work.
