The Apollonian and the Dionysian in M. Tsvetaeva’s Poem "Seven Hills - Just Like Seven Bells!"

Abstract. The article for the first time examines the functions of the "Apollo - Dionysus" mythologeme in M. Tsvetaeva’s poem "Seven Hills - Just Like Seven Bells!", this fact determines relevance and originality of the study. The researcher analyses the poem’s figurative system, specificity of composition and lyrical story development. The conclusion is made that the Apollonian and the Dionysian in the poetess’s world picture relate to each other as "opposites constituting a single whole", which ensures cosmic harmony of existence. At the same time, spontaneous elements of the heroine’s soul turn ambivalent balance of the surrounding reality to internal duality of her consciousness, which determines dramatic nature of her world perception.
