Transformation of Paroemiological Units in the Modern English Language

Abstract. The article analyses paroemia transformations in the English language of the XXI century. The author examines common verities, which acquired a new meaning, and anti-proverbs representing new realia of the global world. Special attention is paid to the influence and reflection of computer-mediated communication and virtual realia in paroemias. The paper covers such issues as types of relations of traditional and modern proverbs and sayings, mechanisms of their transformation and the similar process in the modern Russian language.
