Submitted: 17.07.2019
Abstract. The article considers the problem of assessing literary translation quality when transferring humorous effect. In the modern translation studies, this issue is regarded as one of the most complicated ones due to the creative component and subjective nature of the analyzed object. The author proposes a system of assessment, which includes such macro-parameters as functional, individual style, language and recipient. The originality of the study involves abandoning exclusively linguistic approach, describing certain essential parameters and accentuating the correlation of some elements in the system "target text / recipient". The findings indicate the efficiency of the proposed system and its explanatory force within the fragments with humorous effect.
