Abstract. The article examines verbal manipulation techniques in popular youth pads. The particular techniques of verbal influence are identified and analysed taking into account linguistic and extra-linguistic factors. The paper argues that the analysed text will be communicatively efficient because authors’ intention is successfully realized through cognitive, logical, rhetorical, lexical and other linguistic means and through presuppositions, which become a distinctive feature of modern publications.
