COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE RUSSIAN BORROWINGS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article provides a comparative analysis of the Russian borrowings in the English language. This research area includes such problems as identification of different graphical variants of a borrowed word, representation of a borrowed word in dictionaries, encyclopaedias and other sources and disagreements on the exact date of a borrowed word assimilation in the English language. After analysing a corpus of borrowed words the author identifies the basic differences in the above mentioned characteristics.
