PECULIARITIES OF METAPHORS AND SIMILES TRANSLATION IN D. TARTT’S ENGLISH-LANGUAGE NOVEL "THE GOLDFINCH"

Abstract. In this article, the analysis of the ways of metaphor and simile translation is carried out. Tropes in D. Tartt’s English-language novel "The Goldfinch" translated into Russian and German are used as material for the research. The author conducts a parallel analysis of the text in the original language and translated texts, identifies the main models of metaphor and simile translation taking into account the peculiarities of the studied fiction texts, and reveals the problems arising in the process of metaphor and simile translation into another language.
