Abstract. The study is based on the poems of the modern Kumyk poetess Dzhaminat Kerimova "My Dream" ("Тюшюм", 1977), "Unfertile Woman" ("Яш тапмайгъан къатын", 1990), "The Night" ("Гече", 1986), "I Didn’t See Cossack with My Own Eyes" ("Къазакъны мен гёрмегенмен тюлюмде", 1999). The paper identifies the peculiarities of the author’s vision of the loneliness problem and considers a lyrical heroine’s aspiration to compensate for her loneliness in a dream. The emphasis is made on the motive of dream, which helps to reveal the personality and character of a lyrical heroine. The analysis has allowed identifying the author’s perception of the mortal world, the tragic destiny of a human being. Dream as a symbol plays an essential role and bears semantic load in the mentioned poems.
