ORIGINAL PROBLEMATICS OF JANET FITCH’S NOVEL "WHITE OLEANDER" IN THE CONTEXT OF THE USA LITERATURE AT THE TURN OF THE XX-XXI CENTURIES

Abstract. The article provides a detailed analysis of the problematics of the Californian authoress Janet Fitch’s novel "White Oleander". The researchers characterize the USA literary context at the turn of the XX-XXI centuries, mention the basic tendencies of the USA literature of this period and identify the authoress’s approach to representing the key themes and problems of the modern American society, such as the conflict of generations, "mother - daughter" relations. The paper concludes that Janet Fitch’s novel is in tune with the basic tendencies of the modern American literature but traditional for "women’s prose" problems are considered at the philosophical and esthetical level.
